«Immigration emerges as an important theme in the Catalan novel in the sixties. This emergence occurs simultaneously with the creation of autonomous neighborhoods populated by immigrants in Catalonia. In contrast, immigration finds expression in contemporany Catalan theater during in the nineties, primaly as a response to the debates about illegal immigration during this decade. The first play about Maghrebian immigration, Abú Magrib (1992), written by the Valencian playwright Manuel Molins, is a play that narrates a young Maghrebian’s story of voyages in western Europe».
